“Receiving a completed piece from Glassworks is a little bit like Christmas. There is always that 'little added something' beyond the expectations of the designed piece in the execution of the finished work!”

Molten glass kiln

Steve Shahbaghlian founded Glassworks thirty-five years ago. A self-taught artist and craftsman, Shahbaghlian's innovative work immediately caught the attention of architects and designers. His first major commission was a leaded mural for a Seattle synagogue and before long, his glass icons became the design centerpiece for buildings and interiors of all shapes and sizes. One of his first large commissions was the leaded windows for all the Black Angus restaurants that dot the American landscape. An auspicious beginning, from there, the company has grown into one of the most sought-after art glass fabricators in the country.

Tish Oye purchased Glassworks in 1990. Integrating her skills as an M.B.A. with her deep love of glass, Oye works directly with Shahbaghlian to expand the company's artistic reach and business dimensions. Under her savvy eye, Glassworks has kept pace with contemporary design trends and continues to create innovative structures and visual key points for a myriad of commercial and residential projects.

Known for a keen understanding of technique and emphasis on the importance of partnering with interdisciplinary design and fabricating teams, Glassworks seamlessly takes concepts on paper and transforms them into glass masterpieces. Over the years, Glassworks has become a valued partner for architects, interior designers, contractors, and homeowners.

Today, Shahbaghlian and Oye oversee all aspects of the design and fabrication including the on-going exploration of new trends and design options and all fabrication and design is done on the premises. A first-choice for designers, architects, and developers, Glassworks' repertoire includes fused, slumped, etched, carved, cast, and leaded glass for hotel, casino, restaurant, corporate, and residential projects.
